Anguilla

Anguilla, the most northerly of the Caribbean Leeward Islands, has a landmass of 91 sq. km. It was originally inhabited by, and an important home island to, the Arawak Indians, an indigenous Caribbean race. The British established control of Anguilla in the late 1600's, prevailing in numerous skirmishes with other European powers throughout the colonial period, so that today Anguilla is a British Dependent Territory. Celebrated as one of the most exclusive destinations in the world, with 33 white sand beaches wrapped in tranquil azure waters, Anguilla is recognised as the place where business is a pleasure. The Anguilla advantage is a combination of the protective stability of British Dependency, the fiscal certitude of a tax neutral jurisdiction and the cutting edge of our technically advanced ACORN online company registration network. In addition to socio-economic stability, innovative legislation, excellent labour relations and a liberalised telecommunication industry, the jurisdiction is recognised as one of the rigorously regulated financial services in the region

Tax/Legal

Anguilla is a tax neutral jurisdiction with no income or corporate taxation. Anguilla has not entered into any double tax agreements but has signed 19 TIEA (tax information exchange agreements – upon request only). Some TIEAs have very favorable tax advantages for companies setting up in Anguilla (i.e. Canada).

Anguilla's legal system is based upon English Common Law, with local modifications. The judiciary is independent of the Executive and Legislative branches, and is fully independent of political influence. Anguilla has, since 1992 (and specifically in 1994), introduced and adopted numerous pieces of modern financial service legislation. These laws were drafted with the involvement of all elected legislators, with the advice of the private sector practitioners, and the consent of British Government representatives.
